For a decade, Ian was a Supervisor with the Information Systems and Operation Management (ISOM) Department of the University of Auckland for their highly regarded 340 Information Systems paper. He served as a Committee Member and Chairman of the NZCS Auckland Branch as well as the NZCS National Councillor representing Auckland for a number of terms.
